Act
smallest step possible
This Point on the compass is finding the steps to take.
Find the smallest step that seems do’able. What can I do now ?
It doesn’t matter if you can’t see all the steps, what are the steps you can see ?
Reaching 221 meters underwater took a decade and over 500 dives. Each dive built a bridge that took me deeper. Each dive created a foundation and confidence to tackle the next step out of my comfort zone.
Any challenge becomes possible when broken into small enough steps.
If you are stuck and the next step is just too big, too scary, then what can you do ? The silliest, tiniest step… watch a video about it, read a book… go watch others do it….. get closer and closer until you are doing it.
You will find that once you are acting, once you are doing it becomes easier to include things that are outside of your comfort zone.
On some of my bigger, scary dives, I broke the dive into 10 min chunks, just get there. When I was there, well, what about another 10 min ? Another 10 meters ? Every time I made that, it was easy to add on another…. rinse and repeat, rinse and repeat.
Sometimes you can’t look too far forward.
